Edwards Peppered, Sliced Bacon
Is adding fresh, cracked pepper to Edwards bacon "gilding the lily?"
Some people think so...but I know from hundreds of customer letters I've received that lots of folks just love the extra tang a delicate coating of fresh-cracked pepper adds to hickory-smoked Virginia Bacon. The transformation starts, of course, with an extra-lean slab of Edwards award-winning, hickory-smoked bacon. Then, we gently hand-rub each slab with fresh, cracked peppercorns.
The result is a very special flavor that gives the bacon a really unique character. It's also sliced for your convenience, and shrinks only a fraction as much as supermarket bacon when you cook it. Try our peppered bacon for yourself, and let me know what you think: Are we gilding the lily...or creating a new one? Three 12 oz. packages (2 1/4 lbs.), or six 12 oz. packages(4 1/2 lbs.)

The only thing that would be better (and I hope I don't hurt your feelings as Virginians) would be your bacon cured with Vermont maple syrup or sugar.

Friends love it as a great treat for Xmas breakfast. Try it wrapped around water chestnuts, skewered with a toothpick, and baked at 400 degrees until brown as a fabulous appetizer.
